“A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimensions.”
Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man’s training begins, it is probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly. - Thomas H. Huxley, 1825-1895

I’m watching pictures of children in the UK returning to school. They seem pleased to be back. You get sick and tired of doing nothing and I’ll bet many children are fed up with doing very little and relish the idea of seeing their friends again.
FRUIT and vegetable prices in Britain are rocketing after torrential rains in Spain devastated harvests, creating shortages of some popular crops.
Imports which usually line the fresh produce aisles before the UK growing season have been badly hit by the rain which caused floods in southern Spain last month.
Shortages have ramped up the price of many greens usually popular with families at this time of year, according to food industry magazine The Grocer.
Higher food bills will come as a blow to families who are already paying more for favourites such as carrots and cauliflowers after British crops suffered in the cold winter weather. Full Story
You might remember all the fuss over the Swine Flu vaccination. There’s already a mighty large amount of evidence that this was a rather contrived event and I am glad I didn’t take a jab. I had the normal flu jab. I wonder how those that invested in this swine flu product will try to recoup their losses for I am sure they will be trying to use the stockpiled antidote to this swine flu. Watch this space…..In the meantime, I feel the weather is cooling down so let’s get the forecast…..

A new study out of Oxford University pinpoints vitamin D deficiency as a culprit in serious illnesses like cancer and autoimmune disorders. According to the report, which was recently published online in the journal Genome Research, genetic receptors throughout the body need adequate vitamin D levels to prevent these and other serious illnesses from developing.
Multiple sclerosis, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, Chron’s disease, leukemia — these and many more diseases are often caused by a lack of vitamin D. Your genes literally have receptors that need vitamin D in order to properly express themselves. If there is not enough of the vitamin, serious illness is prone to develop.

A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City , where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 – These men Have Jobs
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 2 – These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.
‘That’s nice,’ she thinks, ‘but I want more.’
So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.
‘Wow,’ she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the fourth f loor and the sign reads:
Floor 4 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.
‘Oh, mercy me!’ she exclaims, ‘I can hardly stand it!’
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 5 – These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 6 – You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. (scroll and keep reading!)
PLEASE NOTE:
To avoid gender bias charges, the store’s owner opened a New Wives store just across the street.
The first floor has wives that love sex.
The second floor has wives that love sex and have money and like beer.
The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.
