My father taught me how to be a man — and not by instilling in me a sense of machismo or an agenda of dominance. He taught me that a real man doesn’t take, he gives; he doesn’t use force, he uses logic; doesn’t play the role of trouble-maker, but rather, trouble-shooter; and most importantly, a real man is defined by what’s in his heart, not his pants. - Kevin Smith, 1970-present

Laughing at our mistakes can lengthen our own life. Laughing at someone else’s can shorten it. – Cullen Hightower, 1923-2008

—————————————————————————————--

The day’s Podcast is always an interesting journey with the story of the day’s music over the years…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1959, 22 year old Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens, aged 17, died in a crash shortly after take-off from Clear Lake, Iowa, the pilot of the single-engined Beechcraft Bonanza plane was also killed. Holly hired the plane after heating problems developed on his tourbus.

It’s easy to overlook the fact that many people on the planet are still enjoying the legacy of Buddy Holly. It is very easy to overlook how young he was but his story is a fascinating on and I hope I have captured the atmosphere of his success and lifetime on the podcast I created as a tribute to him.

Our cat Tinker is not too well at the moment. He gets these fur balls which he normally coughs up eventually but I think he’s got a bit more than a fur ball. We have to keep our eye on him. Fortunately, next door we have a lady, Patricia, who is particularly good with cats and she is helping us look after him. It’s as bad as having children again!

Like most others I was unable to understand the ferocity of the disturbance that killed so many people at the football match in Egypt. I would have thought the young fans would be thrilled to watch their matches in a new political era but it would seem that, once again, the game of football has been a forum for such atrocious behaviour. The power of football is very misunderstood by many of its critics and for such a simple game its power is far reaching. I think the very least of its influences is to have played its part in creating the terrible mess the financial systems around the world are witnessing. If a footballer is worth 250. 000 pounds per week and a prime minister is worth 250.000 pounds per year I offer this one fact as a reason why we’re all in a mess. Throw in a few bankers and politicians and dodgy agents and I’ll leave the rest to your imagination!

Here’s the proof we do have snow on the Costa Blanca. This is the mountain at the top of our road…..

I was sent a stack of Tommy Cooper jokes the other day…We’ve seen them before but they might cheer up an odd person!

Phone answering machine message – ‘…If you want to buy marijuana, press the hash key…’

A guy walks into the psychiatrist wearing only Clingfilm for shorts. The shrink says, ‘Well, I can clearly see you’re nuts.’

I went to buy some camouflage trousers the other day but I couldn’t find any.

I went to the butchers the other day and I bet him 50 quid that he couldn’t reach the meat off the top shelf. He said,
‘No, the steaks are too high.’

My friend drowned in a bowl of muesli. A strong currant pulled him in.

I went to a seafood disco last week and pulled a muscle.

Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly.. They lit a fire in the craft, it sank, proving once and for all that you can’t have your kayak and heat it.

Man goes to the doctor, with a strawberry growing out of his head.
Doc says ‘I’ll give you some cream to put on it.’

‘Doc I can’t stop singing ‘The Green, Green Grass of Home’
‘That sounds like Tom Jones syndrome. ’
‘Is it common?’
‘It’s not unusual.’

A man takes his Rottweiler to the vet. ‘My dog is cross-eyed, is there anything you can do for him?’
‘Well,’ said the vet, ‘let’s have a look at him’
So he picks the dog up and examines his eyes, then he checks his teeth. Finally, he says, Im going to have to put him down.’ ‘What? Because he’s cross-eyed?’
‘No, because he’s really heavy’

What do you call a fish with no eyes? A fsh.

So I was getting into my car, and this bloke says to me ‘Can you give me a lift?’
I said ‘Sure, you look great, the world’s your oyster, go for it..’

Apparently, 1 in 5 people in the world are Chinese. There are 5 people in my family, so it must be one of them. It’s either my mum or my Dad, or my older brother Colin, or my younger brother Ho-Cha-Chu. But I think its Colin.

Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, and the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, ‘Parking Fine.’ So that was nice.’

A man walked into the doctors, he said, ‘I’ve hurt my arm in several places’
The doctor said, Well don’t go there anymore!

1945 – Russia agreed to enter World War II against Japan. They had old scores to settle

The Day’s Music Events 3 February

1959, 22 year old Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens, aged 17, died in a crash shortly after take-off from Clear Lake, Iowa, the pilot of the single-engined Beechcraft Bonanza plane was also killed. Holly hired the plane after heating problems developed on his tourbus. A sad day in pop history
1960, Anthony Newley was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Why’, the singers first of two UK No.1 hits. He was also Idle on Parade

1967, producer Joe Meek shot his landlady Violet Shenton and then shot himself at his flat in London, Meek produced The Tornadoes ‘Telstar’ the first No.1 in the US by a British group. This was both weird and tragic

1968, One hit wonders The Lemon Pipers went to No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Green Tambourine’ the song was a No.7 hit in the UK. Bit of Flower Power
1968, The Beatles started work on their new single ‘Lady Madonna’ at Abbey Road studios in London. Great song
1973, Elton John started a three-week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Crocodile Rock’. Elton’s first of five US No.1 singles. Good song
1979, Blondie had their first of five UK No.1 singles, with ‘Heart Of Glass’, taken from the band’s third studio album, Parallel Lines. Good song

1990, for the first time ever, the UK Top 3 singles featured non-British and non-American acts. Ireland’s Sinead O’Connor, Australia’s Kylie Minogue and Belgium’s Technotronic. Sinead O’Connor had her first No.1 single with Nothing Compares To U’, a song written by Prince. Fair enough

1999, Tony Hadley singer with Spandau Ballet told a High Court in London of his “desperate” financial situation after his solo career failed. Hadley and band members Steve Norman and drummer John Keeble, were suing Spandau Ballet songwriter Gary Kemp for hundreds of thousands of pounds of allegedly unpaid publishing royalties. Hadley earned £120,000 a year during the band’s heyday in the early 1980s, but the court heard that when he fell on hard times he was forced him to sell his home to pay off a £50,000 overdraft in 1993. How on earth could he have squandered such money?

2003, the exclusive documentary ‘Living With Michael Jackson’ was shown on UK television. Reporter Martin Bashir had spent eight months with the star, the show’s editor said, ‘viewers will not believe what they’re seeing.’

2010, AC/DC singer Brian Johnson, joined a growing group of critics of Bob Geldof and U2 singer Bono over their very public charity work, saying they should stop lecturing audiences about charity work and instead do their good deeds in private. Johnson said “When I was a working man I didn’t want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa. I’m sorry mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done. It just makes me angry.” I can understand both points of view

Birthday Boys and Girls

1928, Frankie Vaughan, UK singer. UK No.2 ‘Green Door’. Made an OBE in 1965. Died 17th Sept 1999 aged 71.
1928, Val Doonican, Irish singer, (1964 UK No. 4 single ‘Walk Tall’, and 1967 UK No.1 album ‘Val Doonican Rocks, But Gently’.

The day’s Podcast is always an interesting journey with the story of the day’s music over the years…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1962, The Beatles played their first professionally organised gig outside of Liverpool at The Oasis Club, Manchester. The group’s set started with their version of ‘Hippy Hippy Shake.’

The weather is a lot colder and we have a sprinkling of snow on the mountains. This is nothing compared with the extremes being suffered elsewhere and even on the BBC news I was watching cold alerts and the preparations to help the elderly. It does seem strange that we can get these sharp bursts of cold weather the day after sitting in the sun down in Benidorm. My brain also finds it more difficult to accept the concept of global warming on a day like this.

I have just been disciplining myself to watch the Spanish television which, in terms of language skills, takes me out of my comfort zone. Remembering our son Andrew is working in the UK as the boss of a branch of a Spanish company I was interested to see a programme about Spanish exports. The company in the film was from Teruel and was a family company making goat’s cheese which they were exporting to China, Japan and several other countries. The one salient point that came from the programme was the necessity for the use of English as a common denominator when doing business.

I had an absolutely absorbing day yesterday and found myself with a head full of Spanish verbs trying to get out and be used. I really had a bad day with the tenses and I’m going to blame the cat as he’s been off colour and I have been worrying about him! If you have been having a bad day I’ve put this link in for you to escape to a little bit of really good music! Please don’t go just yet. You can always finish the blog first!

You might have noticed that I have been resurrecting some really funny stories and today is a Burns special. …….Prince Charles is visiting an Edinburgh hospital. He enters a ward full of patients with no obvious sign of injury or illness and greets one
The patient replies:

“Fair fa your honest sonsie face,
Great chieftain o the puddin race,
Aboon them a ye tak yer place,
Painch, tripe or thairm,
As langs ma airm.”

Charles is confused, so he just grins and moves on to the next patient. > The
patient responds:

“Some hae meat an canna eat,
And some wad eat that want it,
But we hae meat an we can eat,
So let the Lord be thankit.”

Even more confused, and his grin now rictus-like, the Prince moves on to > the
next patient, who immediately begins to chant:

“Wee sleekit, courin, timrous beasty,
O whit a panic’s in thy breasty,
Tha needna start awa sae hastie,
Wi bickerin’ brattle.”

Now seriously troubled, Charles turns to the accompanying doctor and asks
“Is this a psychiatric ward?”

No,” replies the doctor, “this is the serious Burns unit.”

……………………………………………………………………………..

A friend from the UK sends the following for us to ponder over….taxpayers will again receive another ‘Economic Stimulus’ payment.

This is indeed a very exciting program, and I’ll explain it by using a Q & A format:

Q. What is an ‘Economic Stimulus’ payment ?

A. It is money that the government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money ?

A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money ?

A. Only a smidgen of it.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment ?

A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn’t that stimulating the economy of China ?

A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the U.K. economy by spending your stimulus cheque wisely:

* If you spend the stimulus money at Asda or Tesco, the money will go to China , Taiwan or Sri Lanka .

* If you spend it on petrol, your money will go to the Arabs.

* If you purchase a computer, it will go to India , Taiwan or China .

* If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala .

* If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea .

* If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .

* If you pay your credit cards off, or buy shares, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in the UK by:

1) Spending it at car boot sales, or

2) Going to night clubs, or

3) Spending it on prostitutes, or

4) Beer or whisky or

5) Tattoos.

(These are the only UK businesses still operating in the U.K. )

Conclusion:

Be patriotic – go to a night club with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a car boot sale and drink beer day and night.

HOSPITAL GETTING BETTER

The Torrevieja Hospital has announced that it has joined an international network that integrates the most advanced medical centres in the world.

“The Advisory Board” is an organization dedicated to research and advisory experience and encompasses more than 3,000 hospitals and healthcare organizations around the world. Professionals have the ability to access a wide world of information and research on strategy, best practices and productivity to improve hospital life.

ARRESTS FOR IRON THEFT

The Guardia Civil in Alicante have arrested six men, all believed to be of Romanian origin, accused of a crime of theft, after they were caught cutting iron beams from the roof of a warehouse in Villena.

The men, aged between 23 and 43, only carried out the work in the evening, which raised the suspicions of investigating officers. After checking with the owner of the building, they found that the work was not approved and have now sought criminal case against the men who they found had forced their way into the premises to carry out the theft.

MUM AND SON DRUG RING SMASHED

A 47 year old woman and her two sons aged 23 and 26, all of Czech nationality, have been arrested in Alicante accused of cultivating and distributing cannabis at their home in the city centre, where a greenhouse has been dismantled and 320 marijuana plants, eleven kilograms of the drug, 600 euro in cash and numerous tools and instruments for the cultivation of cannabis were seized.

In addition, those arrested had been fraudulently using a power supply from outside their property, not paying for their electricity being used.

The family will be put before the courts facing a range of fraud and drug related charges.

PAY MORE FOR YOUR LEMONS

The president of the group of Valencia citrus growers, José Barrés Gabardá, has asked that all farmers have a unified approach and increase the prices of the fruit, to avoid recent losses incurred as some farmers were unable to compete.

Some farmers have been giving fruit away, as they were unable to afford to package and sell the fruit due to the lower prices across the sector.

The president also stressed that “we need to revive citrus consumption in foreign markets and continue to undertake promotion, marketing communication and enabling a better position for the distribution of citrus fruit”.

Texas had already entered the U.S. on December 29, 1845. When I visited California it felt very Spanish in parts and I enjoyed that ambience

1962, The Beatles played their first professionally organised gig outside of Liverpool at The Oasis Club, Manchester. The group’s set started with their version of ‘Hippy Hippy Shake.’ Does anybody else think it’s weird that they played the Oasis gig….Gallaghers etc

The Beatles were at the bottom of the six-act bill playing just four songs, ‘Please Please Me’, ‘Chains’, ‘Keep Your Hands Off My Baby’ and ‘A Taste of Honey.’ Helen Shapiro has been on my show.

1966, The Rolling Stones released ’19th Nervous Breakdown’ it peaked at No.2 on the UK singles chart. OK but not my Stones favourite song

2001, Bad Manners singer Buster Bloodvessel was told he was ‘too fat’ to survive an urgently needed operation. Buster collapsed on stage during a show in Italy but Doctors felt that his huge 30 stone frame might not make it through surgery. This surely has to send a message to overweight people to take more care of themselves

2002, The Phonographic Performance Ltd launched performersmoney.com for artists to check if they were owed any of the £10 million ($17 million) in unclaimed money. Director Dominic McGonigal said “If anyone has seen Rick Astley please let him know, he is still earning money for his hits.” Well, Rick Astley was on TV recently so let’s hope he got the message

2003, Russian girl duo Tatu started a four-week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘All The Things She Said’. The song had been a hit on the Russian charts three years earlier. Tatu were the first Russian act to score a UK No 1.Not a good song

Timberlake insisted it had been an accident saying “I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the half-time performance of the Super Bowl.” Might Pigs might fly?…..
2007, Billy Henderson, one of the founders of US soul group The Spinners, died aged 67 after complications from diabetes. Had the 1980 UK No.1 & US No.2 single ‘Working My Way Back To You.’ I loved the songs he made

The day’s Podcast is always an interesting journey with the story of the day’s music over the years…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1995, Richey James guitarist with the Manic Street Preachers vanished leaving no clues to his whereabouts. He left The Embassy Hotel in London at 7am, leaving behind his packed suitcase. His car was found on the Severn Bridge outside Bristol, England sixteen days later.

I was watching a show on TV this morning with a very nice family inv0lved in a house move. The lady of the house was a teacher and taught food technology. What surprised both myself and my wife was that she obviously doesn’t apply what she teaches to her own life. She appeared a very nice person but the question I ask myself is this…”Why teach others to do what you don’t do yourself?”

I suppose it is perfectly feasible to teach the subject well but eat incorrectly yourself but it begs the question. If sports teachers were totally unfit would they be selected to teach sport? If teachers don’t have a religion can they properly teach Religious Studies? If the English teacher didn’t speak English would they be selected for their post? If the music teacher didn’t play music would they be the right person for the job?

Does it matter? It would make a mockery of me studying for a degree in the Philosophy in Education if I didn’t spare a passing thought for such matters. The real problem is that as we get to an age when we really should know what really is important we are often fed up with trying to convince others of the real perspectives. It does matter how we teach our children and it certainly matters what they learn from us by default. We have heard for many years how many people feel teaching had deteriorated because of the hippy teachers who turned up for school scruffy and wanting the students to call them by their first names. Personally, I do believe it is imperative to keep a professional distance when teaching in schools. It really is important to let young people know they have to earn their stripes. Having said this then you really shouldn’t make a blanket statement fit everyone. Some youngsters are very mature at an early age.

I mentioned a week ago that I felt the Falklands issue was brewing again and the UK is now sending an armed vessel. The Argentine is also stepping up their side of the equation. It might be a rather good idea to start negotiating now whilst both parties have their diplomatic channels open.

If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could
have been as sharp as this policeman.
He was being cross-examined by a defense attorney
during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine
the police officer’s credibility …..

Q: ‘Officer — did you see my client fleeing the scene?’
A: ‘No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching
the description of the offender, running several blocks away.’

Q: ‘Officer — who provided this description?’
A: ‘The officer who responded to the scene.’

Q: ‘A fellow officer provided the description of this
so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?’
A: ‘Yes, sir. With my life.’

Q: ‘With your life? Let me ask you this then officer.
Do you have a room where you change your clothes
in preparation for your daily duties?’
A: ‘Yes sir, we do!’

Q: ‘And do you have a locker in the room?’
A: ‘Yes, sir, …. I do.’

Q: ‘And do you have a lock on your locker?’
A: ‘Yes, sir.’

Q: ‘Now, … why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow
officers with your life, you find it necessary to lock
your locker in a room you share with these same officers?’

A: ‘You see, sir — we share the building with the court complex,
and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room..’

The courtroom EXPLODED with laughter,
and a prompt recess was called. The officer on the stand
has been nominated for this year’s
‘Best Comeback’ line — and we think he’ll win.

Today’s Podcast is a great journey with the story of the day’s music down the tunnel of time to light up your ears…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1982, Paul McCartney guested on BBC radios Desert Island Discs his selections include, Elvis Presley’s ‘Heartbreak Hotel’, Chuck Berry’s ‘Sweet Little Sixteen’, John Lennon’s ‘Beautiful Boy ‘and Little Richards ‘Tutti Frutti’

The podcasts are getting even stronger of late and it is really great to have people coming to listen to what I’ve been working on. Many thanks for all your support. I am also working at a series of podcasts that can be used with younger learners of English and especially with Spanish learners. I think the parlous state of the Spanish economy makes it all worthwhile.

I have a contact in the USA who made a podcast with me some years ago. At that time we both agreed the word discipline is the one that can turn things round and he has a very good article for anyone who is interested. Here’s the link It always made me laugh to myself when I was teaching in the college. There were many people with far better brains in the college staff-room but they didn’t have much in the way of discipline. In fact the more I think about the teaching course I was on it was the biggest factor between me getting a good grade and others just doing the minimum to pass. I always felt very aware that these people didn’t relate to their students and were only concerned about putting a few merit points on their own pensions. I think I learnt most of the useful things in life from my Judo instructors and from my Sales Trainers at Associated Biscuits.

1961, The Shirelles became the first girl group to have the number one song on the US chart when ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’ reached the top. The song peaked at No.4 in the UK. Great song

Today’s Podcast is a great journey with the story of the day’s music down the tunnel of time to light up your ears…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1959, Elvis Presley had his third UK No.1 single ‘One Night / I Got Stung’ a double A side, (originally written and recorded under the title ‘One Night of Sin)’ a revival of the Smiley Lewis’s R&B hit. Presley was in the army by the time this song reached No.1.

We have a sunny day although it has turned colder. The national Spanish forecast shows a picture of low temperatures with minus 8 degrees recorded inland. We have a weather system around the Balearics and there would appear to be thunder and lightning and rain. Here, it can go either way as we are by the mountains and by the sea.

We had a different sort of start to yesterday. We went down to the Latin mass at 9.30 inn Benidorm and then I walked back to La Nucia whilst Anne went off to meet a friend. The wind was biting and the annoying thing was I had left another track suit top in the car. It was infuriating because I needed that second layer as the wind was biting through my jacket. This was a thick jacket and should give an idea of how cold it was. Anyway, it was a difficult walk and I was ready for a cup of coffee by the time I had got back to the house to make yesterday’s podcast with Neil Colbourne.

Newish to my podcast site Paul Freeman is presenting great quizzes and also travel guides. Here is the link to Paul’s contributions.

Tom R sent me the following…

What It Means

Five-year-old Becky answered the door when the census taker
came by. She told the census taker that her daddy was a
doctor and wasn’t home, because he was performing an
appendectomy.

“My,” said the census taker, “that sure is a big word for
such a little girl. Do you know what it means?”

“Sure! Fifteen hundred bucks, and that doesn’t even include
the anesthesiologist!”

1649 – England’s King Charles I was beheaded. They didn’t muck about in those days

1790 – The first purpose-built lifeboat was launched on the River Tyne. Whay aye mon. I never knew this fact

1798 – The first brawl in the U.S. House of Representatives took place. Congressmen Matthew Lyon and Roger Griswold fought on the House floor. Mathew Lyon won with an immobilisation pin

1847 – The town of Yerba Buena was renamed San Francisco. Was the grass going to be greener?

1889 – Rudolph, crown prince of Austria, and his 17-year-old mistress, Baroness Marie Vetsera, were found shot in his hunting lodge at Mayerling, near Vienna. Not a good idea to take a mistress

1900 – The British fighting the Boers in South Africa ask for a larger army. no comment

1911 – The first airplane rescue at sea was made by the destroyer “Terry.” Pilot James McCurdy was forced to land in the ocean about 10 miles from Havana, Cuba. Well done

1933 – “The Lone Ranger” was heard on radio for the first time. The program ran for 2,956 episodes and ended in 1955. Come on. Give Tonto a break

1933 – Adolf Hitler was named the German Chancellor.Trouble brewing

1948 – Indian political and spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi was murdered by a Hindu extremist. A wonderful man

1958 – Yves Saint Laurent, at age 22, held his first major fashion show in Paris.Oooh la la!

1958 – The first two-way moving sidewalk was put in service at Love Field in Dallas, TX. The length of the walkway through the airport was 1,435 feet. An amazing feat

1964 – January 30 – The U.S. launched Ranger 6. The unmanned spacecraft carried television cameras and was intentionally crash-landed on the moon. The cameras did not return any pictures to Earth. Bit of a costly trip

1972 – In Northern Ireland, British soldiers shot and killed thirteen Roman Catholic civil rights marchers. The day is known as “Bloody Sunday.” I watched a very compelling film on this subject only two nights ago. Why do they show these things at off-peak times?

1979 – The civilian government of Iran announced it had decided to allow Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini to return. He had been living in exile in France. Oh dear. I think people have forgotten what happened in Iran. Which countries will follow?

1989 – The U.S. embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan was closed. They’ll be back

1994 – Peter Leko became the world’s youngest-ever grand master in chess. I love this game but don’t have the time to play very often

1996 – Gino Gallagher, the reputed leader of the Irish National Liberation Army, was shot and killed as he queued for his unemployment benefit. no comment

1997 – A New Jersey judge ruled that the unborn child of a female prisoner must have legal representation. He denied the prisoner bail reduction to enable her to leave the jail and obtain an abortion. This is a strange scenario

2002 – Slobodan Milosevic accused the U.N. war crimes tribunal of an “evil and hostile attack” against him. Milosevic was defending his actions during the Balkan wars. He, of course, was a saint

2002 – Japan’s last coal mine was closed. The closures were due to high production costs and cheap imports. Does anyone really think this is a great job? Would I like to work down a mine? No thank you

1956, Elvis Presley started recording what would be his first album at RCA’s New York Studios. Songs recorded included his version the Carl Perkins song ‘Blue Suede Shoes’. A standard for all rockers

I think Elvis earned his stripes with the US public for his spell in the army

1961, The Shirelles became the first girl group to have the number one song on the US chart when ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’ reached the top. The song peaked at No.4 in the UK. Great song
1964, The Searchers were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with the Sonny Bono song ‘Needles And Pins’. The group’s second UK No.1 had originally been recorded by Jackie DeShannon. I’d no idea Sonny Bono wrote the song
1969, The Beatles played their lunchtime rooftop gig on top of the Apple building on Savile Row in London. Lasting for just over 40 minutes it was the last time The Beatles performed live. They’d already reached the dizziest of heights

1970, Edison Lighthouse were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes).’ In February 1970, Tony Burrows became the first (and still the only) person to appear on BBC Television’s Top Of The Pops fronting three different acts in one show: Edison Lighthouse (who were number one that week), White Plains, and Brotherhood of Man.This is a fantastic bit of pop trivia so well done Tony

1972, Paul McCartney wrote and recorded his protest song ‘Give Ireland Back To The Irish’ within 24 hours of Bloody Sunday, when 13 Catholics were killed by British paratroopers. Take the politics away and the Irish should have their own country

1975, The Bee Gees begin recording ‘Jive Talkin’, which became their second US chart topper and No.5 UK hit. Barry Gibb’s inspiration for the song came when his wife commented on the sound their car made while crossing a bridge over Biscayne Bay into Miami. She noted, “It’s our drive talkin’.” I care not as I loved practically every Bee Gees song

Today’s Podcast is a great journey with the story of the day’s music down the tunnel of time to light up your ears…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1983, Australian group Men At Work went to No.1 on the British and American singles and album charts simultaneously with ‘Down Under’ and ‘Business As Usual’. The last artist to achieve this was Rod Stewart in 1971

I’m beginning to listen to my Paul McKenna flying video again to try and reinforce the gfreat work done last time I had to fly. I was really uptight about flying until I listened to the DVD and the results were terrific. I can really recommend the process and am confident you will free yourself of your phobia. Mine was flying but these DVDs are for any phobia.

We had our rain yesterday but I really wasn’t too bothered. I was busy podcasting with Don Woods in the morning and then I was able to enjoy Liverpool beating Manchester United in the FA Cup. I couldn’t believe it……two wins against the two best teams in the land. I think we’re getting better. I suppose we’ll be back down to earth on Tuesday when we visit Wolves!

Irish Taxi Driver

A British passenger in a taxi in Dublin leaned over to ask
the driver a question and tapped him on the shoulder. The
driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus,
drove up over the curb, and stopped just inches from the
edge of the bridge over the Liffey River.

For a few moments everything was silent in the cab, and then
the still-shaking driver said, “I’m sorry, but you scared
the devil out of me.”

The frightened Brit apologized to the driver and said he
didn’t realize a mere tap on the shoulder could frighten an
Irishman so much.

The driver replied, “Will the saints in Heaven forgive me –
it’s entirely my fault. Today is my first day driving a cab.
I’ve been driving a hearse for the last 25 years.”

After the success of the simultaneous protests across three cities last week, in which a total of 200,000 people are believed to have taken to the streets to protest against cuts in the public education system, unions representing teachers, students and parents have announced their next batch of protests.

The extended action has come about following a lack of acknowledgement by the President of the Valencia government, Alberto Fabra, and the announcement of a further 1,000 million euro of cuts, as well as the introduction of private management models in the public sector.

There will be a number of meetings in the near future which will aim to raise awareness of the issues and the action intended to highlight this.

There will be protests every Thursday from 10:00 in the morning until 11:00, outside every educational establishment in the area, before students enter classes at noon.

On Saturday 11th February, there will be mass protests in four cities, Valencia, Alicante, Benidorm and Castellón. In Valencia it will focus on the City of Arts and Sciences, in Alicante around the City of Light, in Benidorm towards Terra Mitica and in Castellón it will be in the airport vicinity.

The following Saturday, 18th February, there are calls for a General Strike, but in addition to that, union leaders are asking that nobody purchases anything from shops and that everybody avoids attending shows, bars, restaurants and other entertainment venues.

On Thursday 23rd February at 7pm, there will be a mass protest in Valencia, for which unions are hoping every worker in the public sector will attend, showing a united front those sectors such as transport, health, administration, education and justice, amongst others.

On Friday 24th, there will be a petition of signatures presented to the government offices in Valencia.

Finally, there will be a repeat of the protests in Alicante, Valencia and Catellón on Saturday 25th February at 6 in the evening, culminating this campaign. Unions also plan to provide information points in various key locations in the build up to this date, to offer advice and information as well as gaining support for their cause.

1942, BBC radio aired a new program ‘Desert Island Discs’ presented by Roy Plomley, which went on to become the longest running UK radio show. This was a show which went up a gear when the right guest arrived.
1964, The Beatles spent the day at Pathe Marconi Studios in Paris, France, The Beatles’ only studio recording session for EMI held outside the UK. They recorded new vocals for ‘She Loves You’, ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ and ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, after EMI’s West German branch persuaded Brian Epstein that they would be unable to sell large quantities of records in Germany unless they were recorded in the German language. A translator coached John, Paul, and George, although their familiarity with the German language from their Hamburg days made things much easier. Das vas gut
1967, Jimi Hendrix and The Who appeared at The Saville Theatre, London, England. 20 year-old future Queen guitarist Brian May was in the audience. He must have been inspired because he is sensational
1968, The Doors appeared at The Pussy Cat A Go Go, Las Vegas.
The police charge him with vagrancy, public drunkenness, and failure to possess sufficient identification after the show.
1969, Fleetwood Mac had their only UK No.1 single with the instrumental ‘Albatross.’ But what a number 1. I love this track.

1972, the triple album ‘The Concert For Bangla Desh’ went to No.1 on the UK album chart. Organised by George Harrison to raise funds for the people caught up in the war and famine from the area. The set featured; Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Eric Clapton, Ravi Shankar and members from Badfinger. George Harrison struck me as being a wonderful guy and he was the inspiration for the later events organised by Bob Geldof

1977, Gwen Dickey former backing band for The Temptations, went to No.1 on the US singles chart as Rose Royce with ‘Car Wash’, a No.9 hit in the UK. Good track
1979, 16-year-old Brenda Spencer killed two people and wounded nine others when she fired from her house across the street onto the entrance of San Diego’s Grover Cleveland Elementary School. Spencer fired the shot’s from a .22-caliber rifle her father had given her for Christmas. When asked why she did it, she answered “I don’t like Mondays.” The Boomtown Rats went on to write and recorded a song based on the event. This should be a good indication as to how involved music is in the happenings all over the world

1982, Shakin’ Stevens was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Oh Julie’, the Welsh singers third UK No.1. Barry Manilow covered the song in the US. Good track
1982, flying Back from Cannes, France, Gary Numan made a forced landing after running low on fuel at an RAF base outside Southampton, the press ran stories that he had in fact crash landed on the A3057. I am in admiration that he was able to fly a plane

1983, Australian group Men At Work went to No.1 on the British and American singles and album charts simultaneously with ‘Down Under’ and ‘Business As Usual’. The last artist to achieve this was Rod Stewart in 1971. Good on yer sports

1989, Marc Almond started a four-week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart with ‘Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart’ with guest vocals from Gene Pitney, (who had a hit with the song in 1967. Was guest vocals a bit of a cheek? The song would not have been known without the wonderful Gene Pitney

1992, American blues singer and guitarist Willie Dixon died of heart failure. Wrote the classic songs: ‘You Shook Me’, I Can’t Quit You Baby’, ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’, ‘I Just Want to Make Love to You’, ‘Little Red Rooster.’ Dixon was a major influence on The Rolling Stones, Cream, Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin. Great songs
1994, The Supremes’ Mary Wilson was injured when her jeep crashed on a freeway and turned over just outside of Los Angeles, California. Wilson’s 14-year old son was killed in the accident. This was another of pop’s great tragedies
1996, George Michael had the UK No.1 single with ‘Jesus To A Child’
2001, a New York based data company issued a chart listing sales of posthumous albums. The idea came about after radio stations wanted to distinguish between proper recordings when the artists were alive and CD’s released after they died. Mike Shalett founder of SoundScan said there was only one problem. What to call the chart. The Top 5 chart had The Doors at No.5, Eva Cassidy at 4, Jimi Hendrix at 3, Bob Marley at 2 and 2Pac at No.1.
My suggested titles:Dead Certs, Dead Good, Gone but never Forgotten

2006, Arctic Monkeys went to No.1 on the UK album chart with their debut album ‘Whatever People Say I Am That’s What I’m Not’. The Sheffield-based bands album became the fastest-selling debut in chart history after shifting more than 360,000 copies in its first week of release. Is this a real test of quality? Which takes more effort -downloading a song or going out to buy a single?

2009, singer-songwriter John Martyn died in hospital in Ireland at the age of 60. The folk, blues and funk artist was widely regarded as one of the most soulful and innovative singer-songwriters of his generation and had been cited as an influence by artists as varied as U2, Portishead and Eric Clapton. Sadly, I don’t know enough about him
2009, former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson made the largest ever leap to number one in US chart history, rising 96 places. Her single, My Life Would Suck Without You, rose from 97 to the top of the Billboard chart after selling 280,000 downloads in its first week of release. See my comment above
2010, Sly Stone filed a $50m (£30.9m) legal claim against his former manager, alleging fraud and 20 years of stolen royalties. The 66-year-old funk musician of the 1970s group Sly and the Family Stone, claimed in the Los Angeles Superior Court that Jerry Goldstein diverted millions in royalties to fund a lavish lifestyle. This could never happen, could it?

Birthday Boys and Girls

1929, Bernard Stanley Bilk, (Acker Bilk), bandleader, (1962 US No.1 & UK No.2 single ‘Stranger On The Shore’).
1933, French singer and guitarist Sacha Distel. 1970 UK No.10 single ‘Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head.’ Died after a long battle with deteriorating health on 22nd July 2004.
1938, James Jamerson, bass played, The Funk Brothers, died of a heart attack 2nd August 1983 aged 45. Played on many Motown hits by The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Four Tops, Martha And The Vandellas.
1943, Tony Blackburn, DJ on Radio Caroline and the first D.J. on BBC Radio One. (The first song played was ‘Flowers In The Rain by The Move’).

1943, Mark Wynter, UK singer, (1962 UK No.4 single ‘Venus In Blue Jeans’).
1944, Andrew Loog Oldham, the first Rolling Stones manager. Oldham launched the Immediate label in 1965 which enjoyed 24 UK Top 50 hits.
1952, Thomas Erdelyi, (Tommy Ramone), drums, The Ramones, (1977 UK No.22 single ‘Sheena Is A Punk Rocker’).
1953, Louie Perez, Los Lobos, (1987 UK & US No.1 single ‘La Bamba’).
1954, Rob Manzoli, Right Said Fred, (1991 US No.1 & UK No.2 single ‘I’m Too Sexy’,

The weather has definitely become slightly colder but we can’t complain. It has been raining heavily during the evening and it is raining as I am writing this blog. However, we do need the rain. Yesterday, we spent a few hours looking to tie up loose ends that have been clogging up our systems. Nothing too drastic but if you’re one for making lists it involved doing all the little jobs that you keep putting off.

I seem to have spent quite a bit of time away from the TV lately and I feel better for it. If you look at the news they do try to compound the doom and gloom. In actual fact there are now 5 million on the dole here in Spain and I just hope the new government can get this sorted out for the young people here in Spain. I notice they are spending to try and recoup the lost numbers from the British market in tourist terms but I do think Spain’s problems stem from a reluctance to pay bills quickly. If someone has done a job for me I believe in paying them for their services as soon as possible and without them having to ask for the money.

I have to write a quick word of congratulations to Andy Murray. The BBC reporting of his defeat has been quite inept for me. He took the world number 1 to five sets in the semi-finals of the Australian Open and for my money he has done extremely well. I feel he will win a major this year and I hope he does.

Here’s a few laughs to brighten the day…………

Paddy goes to the vet with his goldfish.

“I think it’s got epilepsy” he tells the vet.

Vet takes a look and says “It seems calm enough to me”.

Paddy says, “I haven’t taken it out of the bowl yet”.

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

Paddy spies a letter lying on his doormat.

It says on the envelope “DO NOT BEND “.

Paddy spends the next 2 hours trying to figure out how to pick the Bloody thing up.

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

Paddy shouts frantically into the phone “My wife is pregnant and her Contractions are only two minutes apart!”

“Is this her first child?” asks the Doctor.

“No”, shouts Paddy, “this is her husband!”

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —

Paddy was driving home, drunk as a skunk, suddenly he has to swerve to avoid a tree, then another, then another.

A cop car pulls him over as he veers about all over the road.

Paddy tells the cop about all the trees in the road.

Cop says “For God’s sake Paddy, that’s your air freshener swinging About!”

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —-

An old Irish farmer’s dog goes missing and he’s inconsolable.

His wife says “Why don’t you put an advert in the paper?”

He does, but two weeks later the dog is still missing.

“What did you put in the paper?” his wife asks.

“Here Boy.” he replies.

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —-

Paddy’s in jail. Guard looks in his cell and sees him hanging by his Feet.

“What the hell you doing?” he asks.

“Hanging me self!” Paddy replies.

“It should be around your neck” says the Guard.

“I tried dat” says Paddy “but I couldn’t breathe”.

An American tourist asks an Irish dive master: “Why do Scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?”

To which the Irishman replies: “If they fell forwards, they’d still be in the boat.”

The Parking Ticket

Working people frequently ask retired people what
they do to make their days interesting.

Well, for example, the other day, Sue my wife and I went into town and visited a shop.

When we came out, there was a Policeman writing out a parking ticket.

We went up to him and I said, ‘Come on, man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?’

He ignored us and continued writing the ticket.

I called him an “a–hole” . He glared at me and started
writing another ticket for having worn-out tires.

So Bev called him a “s–t head”.
He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.

Then he started writing more tickets.

This went on for about 20 minutes.

The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.

Just then our bus arrived, and we got on it
and went home.

We try to have a little fun each day now that we’re retired.

It’s important at our age.

Today’s Podcast is a great journey with the story of the day’s music down the tunnel of time to light up your ears…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1973, Roxy Music won ‘the most promising new name’, section in the NME reader’s poll. Deservedly, as the band had a great line-up and lead singer which gathered a huge fan base.

The weather has turned a little bit colder but we certainly can’t complain. We’ll probably get a bit of rain over the next few days but we do need it to get off to a good start inn the reservoirs for next week.

It is interesting to see the demographics at work around Benidorm. Anyone who knows this subject will realise the older folks both live here and take their holidays here yet the constant message seems to be ignored. Give the older folk what they want and they will continue to come and live here. They like their older music. They like their quizzes. They like their bingo. They don’t mind spending their money when the price is right and the items are right.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP)—Only the trophy and the tears were missing from this latest Grand Slam installment of Rafa vs. Roger.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were on opposite sides of the net Thursday, meeting in the semifinals of the Australian Open.

And Nadal was the winner again—for the eighth time in their 10 Grand Slam matchups.

The Spaniard won 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-6 (5), 6-4, covering the baseline with incredible speed and hitting forehand winners from almost impossible angles.

Two-Way Glass?
How can you tell when you are in a room, restroom,Motel etc.
With a mirror or a 2-way glass?

Here’s how: I thought it was quite interesting!
And I Know in about 30 seconds you’re going to do what I did
And find the nearest mirror.

Do you know how to determine if a mirror is 2-way or
Not? A policewoman who travels all over the US and
Gives seminars and techniques for businesswomen passed
This on.

When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms,
Changing rooms, etc., how many of you know for sure
That the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall
Is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror (I.e.,
They can see you, but you can’t see them)? There have
Been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in
Female changing rooms . It is very difficult to
Positively identify the surface by looking at it.

So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty
What type of mirror we are looking at?

Just conduct this simple test: Place the tip of your
Fingernail against the reflective surface and if there
Is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the
Nail, then it is GENUINE mirror.

MIRROR IMAGE

However, if your Fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail,
Then BEWARE! IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!
2 – WAY GLASS IMAGE

“No Space, Leave the Place” So remember, every time
You see a mirror, do the “fingernail test.” It doesn’t
Cost you anything.

REMEMBER. No Space, Leave the Place:

Ladies: Share this with your girlfriends, sisters,
Daughters, etc.

Men: Share this with your wives, daughters,
Daughters-in-law, mothers, girlfriends and/or friends

———————————————————————–

Thirty police officers will be assigned to duty on the evening of Thursday 26th January, to ensure the safe flow of demonstrators and traffic during the mass protest against cuts in education that will take to the streets of Alicante on Thursday.

A number of streets will be closed to traffic around the main area that will focus on the avenida General Marvá, avenida de la Estación and the Instituto Jorge, as well as avenida de Salamanca, avenida Maisonnave and avenida Doctor Gadea, and the area around parque de Canalejas. Buses will also be diverted away from the area.

Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area in the early evening, as the protest should be at its busiest at around 6:30pm.

1956, Elvis Presley’s single, ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ was released by RCA Records, who had just purchased Presley’s contract from Sun Records for $35,000. The song sold 300,000 copies in its first week and would eventually sell over a million, becoming Elvis’ first Gold record. I’ll bet the executives at Sun were pig sick to see how they could have done with that song

Epstein took this as an insult to the group, and made sure that The Beatles never played for that promoter (Brian Kelly) again. There were club secretaries who were like this and they tried to make the acts look small by making them wait for their money or paying in loose change. I was with a great international artist in Cornwall and the same thing happened there.
1966, The Overlanders were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with their version of The Beatles song ‘Michelle’. The group’s only UK hit. Whatever happened to them?

1972, American gospel singer Mahalia Jackson died in Chicago of heart failure and diabetes complications aged 60. Known as the “Queen of Gospel Music” she recorded over 30 albums. Sadly. I was not aware of work
1973, Roxy Music won ‘the most promising new name’, section in the NME reader’s poll. Deservedly, as the band had a great line-up and lead singer which gathered a huge fan base.

1984, Madonna made her first appearance in the UK when she appeared on C4 TV music program The Tube performing ‘Holiday’. The show was broadcast live from the Hacienda Club in Manchester. This was appropriate

1990, Kylie Minogue had her third UK No.1 single with ‘Tears On My Pillow’, the song was originally a US hit for Little Anthony and The Imperials in 1958. A class act

The duo had the 1979 hit ‘Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now’, which sold more than 8 million copies and was nominated for a Grammy Award. Sad days
2009, Road Chef, the Watford Gap UK Motorway services operator, paid £1,000 at an auction for a collection of celebrity signatures, which were collected by former employee, Beatrice England. The book included signatures of Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, The Eagles and Dusty Springfield. The Blue Boar services as it was once known received so many famous guests in its 50-year history that Jimi Hendrix mistook it for a London nightclub as it was mentioned so often by his contemporaries. Well done Beatrice as you obviously had a vision of the future.

Today’s Podcast is a great journey with the story of the day’s music down the tunnel of time to light up your ears…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1974, Ringo Starr went to No.1 on the US singles chart with his version of the Johnny Burnette 1960 hit ‘Your Sixteen’, a No.3 hit in the UK

We’ve a bright and beautiful day on the Costa Blanca with blue skies and no clouds on the mountains. We really are very lucky…

Here are some examples of Spanish text messaging words. Que haces? means what are you doing and is written as k a cs. House is casa and is written ksa. I really love you is te quiero mucho and is written tkm. Some of the expressions are very sensible and examples include salu2 which is saludos using the number and s3ado which is estresado or stressed. Just like English text messaging the major part of the exercise is to leave out the vowels and the rest can be guessed. It’s almost like destroying years of teaching and learning grammar and how to spell correctly. It can be argued, of course, that Shakespeare spelt his name in various ways and was understood.Does spelling correctly really matter? For my money it does because it’s a bit like everyone singing off different hymn sheets if we don’t stick to the rules of grammar, spelling and syntax. If, however, it is treated for what it is-a language used on the mobile and not used in e-mails etc-then it doesn’t hurt anybody and it can be cost effective.

……

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill and the barber replied ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m doing community service this week.’The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a policeman came in for a haircut and when he tried to pay his bill, the barber again replied ‘I cannot accept money from you; I’m doing community service this week.’The policeman was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen doughnuts waiting for him at his door.
Then an MP came in for a haircut and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The MP was very happy and left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen MP’s lined up waiting for a free haircut !
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
BOTH POLITICIANS AND NAPPIES NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN – AND FOR THE SAME REASON !

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOU
Protecting your address book, I got this from a friend(and a very smart one)
Read it and do it. It can do nothing but help you. I did it right away, so should you.
How to protect your e-mail address book

A computer repairman says this is like having gold.

I learned a computer trick today that’s really ingenious in its simplicity. As you may know, when/if a worm virus gets into your computer it heads straight for your email address book, and sends itself to everyone in there, thus infecting all your friends and associates.

This trick won’t keep the virus from getting into your computer, but it will stop it from using your address book to spread further, and it will alert you to the fact that the worm has got into your system. Here’s what you do:

First, open your address book and click on ‘new contact,’ just as you would do if you were adding a new friend to your list of email addresses.

In the window where you would type your friend’s first name, type in’A’. For the screen name or email address, type AAAAAAA@AAA.AAA

Now, here’s what you’ve done and why it works:

The ‘name ‘A’ will be placed at the top of your address book as entry #1.

This will be where the worm will start in an effort to send itself to all your friends. When it tries to send itself to AAAAAAA@AAA.AAA, it will be undeliverable because of the phony email address you entered. If the first attempt fails(which it will because of the phoney address), the worm goes no further and your friends will not be infected. Here’ s the second great advantage of this method: If an email cannot be delivered,
you will be notified of this in your In Box almost immediately. Hence,
if you ever get an email telling you that an email addressed toAAAAAAA@AAA.AAA could not be delivered, you know right away that you have the worm virus in your system.
You can then take steps to get rid of it! Pretty slick huh? If everybody you know does this
then you need not ever worry about opening mail from friends. DO IT NOW and pass this on to all your friends.

Today’s Podcast is a great journey with the story of the day’s music down the tunnel of time to light up your ears…..and there are some very interesting stories about the music of the day. 1975, The Carpenters went to No.1 on the US singles chart with their version of The Marveletts 1961 hit ‘Please Mr. Postman’

Well, it was another lovely day yesterday with clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Eric came over and we made the new Alfaz Fantasy Football podcast and then I was busy checkin and renewing my RSS feeds for the website. This was quite a big job and is ongoing.

It is Spanish class today and I am going to battle against the Subjunctive for an hour or so. Tonight will be a big football night with Liverpool playing Man City and Real Madrid playing Barcelona. I have a pretty good idea which will be the better game and I suppose you might suspect which match I mean…….

This is good info. We did not know that you should not lie down whilewaiting for the EMT
Heart attack info new aspirin / serious stuff, no joke! Just a reminder to all: purchase a box, keep one inyour car, pocketbook, wallet, bedside, etc. Important read . . .

Something that we can do to help ourselves.
Nice to know.
Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve under thetongue. They work much faster than the tablets.
Why keep aspirin by your bedside?

About Heart Attacks
There are other symptoms of an heart attack besidesthe pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea andlots of sweating, however these symptoms may alsooccur less frequently. Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during aheart attack
The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heartattack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake youup from your deep sleep.
If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirinsin your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.Afterwards: CALL 911 - say “heart attack!” - say that you have taken 2 aspirins.- phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by- take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and . . . Do not lie down
A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life can be saved!
I have already shared the information- – Whatabout you?
Do forward this message; it may save lives!

François , a middle-aged French tourist on his first visit to Orlando , Florida , finds the red light district and enters a large brothel.
The madam asks him to be seated and sends over a young lady to entertain him. They sit and talk, frolic a little, giggle a bit, drink a bit, and she sits on his lap. He whispers in her ear and she gasps and runs away!
Seeing this, the madam sends over a more experienced lady to entertain the gentleman.
They sit and talk, frolic a little, giggle a bit, drink a bit, and she sits on his lap. He whispers in her ear, and she too screams, “No!” and walks quickly away.
The madam is surprised that this ordinary looking man has asked for something so outrageous that her two girls will have nothing to dowith him. She decides that only her most experienced lady, Lola, will do. Lola has never said no, and it’s not likely anything would surprise her.So the madam sends her over to François. They sit and talk, frolic a little, giggle a bit, drink a bit, and she sits on his lap. He whispers in her ear and she screams, “NO WAY, BUDDY!” and smacks him as hard as she can and leaves.Madam is by now absolutely intrigued, having seen nothing like this in all her years of operating a brothel. She hasn’t done the bedroom workherself for a long time, but she’s sure she has said yes to everything a man could possibly ask for. She just has to find out what this man wants that has made her girls so angry. Besides she sees a chance to teach her employees a lesson.
So she goes over to François and says that she’s the best in the house and is available. She sits and talks with him. They frolic, giggle, drink andthen she sits in his lap.
François leans forwards and whispers in her ear, Can I pay in Euros?”

A guy was getting ready to tee off on the first hole when a second golfer approached and asked if he could join him. The first said that he usually played alone, but agreed to the twosome.

They were even after the first few holes. The second guy said, “We’re about evenly matched, how about playing for five bucks a hole?” The first guy said that he wasn’t much for betting, but agreed to the terms.

The second guy won the remaining sixteen holes with ease.

As they were walking off number eighteen, the second guy was busy counting his $80.00. He confessed that he was the pro at a neighboring course and liked to pick on suckers. The first fellow revealed that he was the Parish Priest.

The pro was flustered and apologetic, offering to return the money. The Priest said, “You won fair and square and I was foolish to bet with you. You keep your winnings.”

The pro said, “Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?”

The Priest said, “Well, you could come to Mass on Sunday and make a donation. And, if you want to bring your mother and father along, I’ll marry them.
