I am sad to be writing yet another tribute to a friend
who has died.
On my OCI radio programme I had asked a lovely
friend of ours to be my radio chef. This lovely lady
was called Lil Smith and we had met Lil with her
Scottish husband, Jim, in Alfaz del Pi. We became
friends and even stayed with them as we were
beginning our new life in Spain. Jim and Lil found
Spain too hot several years ago and returned to the
UK to live in Scotland. Jim died a few years ago
and we had kept in touch with Diamond Lil often
speaking on birthdays. It was Lil's birthday 30th
September and we had called to wish her a happy
95th birthday. Sadly, her daughter Christine told us
she had died on her birthday.
RIP Lil we will never forget you and Jim.
